Resumen:
First record of Pharyngodon travassosi (Nematoda, Pharyngodonidae) in Teius teyou (Squamata, Teiidae) in the Monte Desert, Argentina. We analyzed the gastrointestinal contents of five male specimens of Teius teyou from the Encón locality, San Juan, Argentina to contribute to the understanding of parasites in Teiidae lizards in Argentina. A total of 78 nematodes were found and assigned to the species of Pharyngodon travassosi, with a prevalence of 100 % and mean intensity of 15.6. The diagnostic characteristics of these male Nematodes were: caudal alae enveloping a posterior postcloacal pair of pedunculate papillae, tail filament equal in length to bursa, smooth tail, and eggs with truncated ends. This is the first record of this nematode species for Argentina and the first report of this parasite–host interaction.
