Mission, functions, perspective and values


CONICET’S mission is to promote and implement scientific and technological activities in all the national territory and the different areas of knowledge. * Decree 1661/96


a) To foster and fund scientific and technological research and the support activities for that in the public and private sectors. Those actions should aim for scientific and technological innovations, the development of the Argentine economy and the improvement of the quality of life according to the approach of the Argentine Government.
b) To promote the exchange and scientific and technological cooperation in the country and abroad.
c) To provide subsides to research projects.
d) To grant internships and fellowships to train university graduates or conduct specific studies in the country or abroad.
e) To organize and subsidize institutes, laboratories and research centers that can be located in universities and other public or private institutions under the scope of the National Scientific and Research Council (CONICET).
f) To manage the Careers of Scientific and Technological Researchers and Support Staff to Research and Development.
g) To establish awards, credits and other support actions for scientific research.
h) To advise public and private entities in their area of work. * Decree 1661/96


The Council’s perspective is to consolidate its role as a leading agency for the scientific and technological activity and promote projects with social impact so as to foster the development of the country and welfare of the population.
