First meeting of the International Joint Research Center Globalization and Society SHU/CEIL-CONICET

The Center for Labor Studies and Research together with the University of Shanghai work to strengthen scientific-technological cooperation.


Since its creation, the International Joint Research Center Globalization (which comprises the Society SHU/CEIL-CONICET (CIMI-GyS),  the Center for Labor Studies and Research (CEIL, CONICET))and the University of Shanghai (SHU)), has undertaken intense academic, exchange and cooperation activity. This is one of the first joint centers established between top-level institutions from China and Argentina.

In this first face-to-face meeting, both institutions consolidated their cooperation in the space of social sciences . SHU colleagues were also informed about the current operation of the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation linked to the Ministry of Science and the academic cooperation space was opened for master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral scholarship holders from Argentina .

On behalf of the University of Shanghai were the vice chancellor of the University of Shanghai, Hua Ouyang; Graduate School Dean Zhang Yongan; the director of the Department of Advertising and Communication, Hu Dawei; the director of the International Department, Wei Cui; the director of the Film School, He Xiaoqing; professor and researcher Zhang Kun.

From the CEIL, the directors of CIMI, Claudia Figari and Fortunato Mallimaci respectively, participated, as well as cooperation members, Verónica Giménez Beliveau and Hugo Simkin; the CONICET researcher and member of the China program in Social and Human Sciences of the CONICET and who is currently carrying out a research stay, Gonzalo Ghiggino and the doctoral scholar from Shanghai University, Elisa Hou Zizhuo.

International Joint Research Center Globalization and Society

The CIMI has four central areas of research: Cultural and religious problems, work, labor relations and unionism, international economic and political relations and population, work and food in rural areas, to which the topics of local governance at the municipal level and the link with social sciences.
