CONICET ranks among the world’s 80 most important institutions in terms of scientific production
According to the SCImago ranking, the Council was placed 79th among 4.851 world scientific and technical institutions. It also moves up regarding innovation and technological impact.
Argentine science continues to make progress. In 2009, the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) ranked 151 in the world, in 2011 it was placed 121 and this year it ranks 79th in scientific production.
Currently, SCImago publishes rankings in areas of research, innovation and web visibility. The first one has been conducted since 2009 and it took into account information from scientific publications over the past 5 years.
CONICET ranks 79th among a number of 5 thousand scientific institutions all over the world. At national level, it is first while at regional level, it is second after the Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. In Ibero-America, it ranks third after the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Universidade de São Paulo.
CONICET stands out in the category of scientific talent pool, where it is placed 71st. This category was based on the total number of authors from one institution according to the number of publications.
Regarding the innovation ranking, the Council takes first place in Argentina and 192 in the world. In 2009, the country ranked 343.In the same period, the technological impact changed its place from 869 to 364.
