Resumen:
Pennelliayalaensis, anew species of Brassicaceae from Jujuy Province in Argentina, is described andillustrated, and its phylogenetic relationships to nearest relatives aredemonstrated. The novelty is morphologically related to P. boliviensis and P.brachycarpa, which also grow in the Central Andes of Argentina. However P. yalaensis clearly differs from bothspecies by the height of its plants, the inflorescence type, and the length ofthe petals; in addition to the trichomes in the basal leaves for P. boliviensis, or the length of thefruit and the number of ovules/seed for P.brachycarpa. Phylogenetic analyses, based on DNA sequences of nuclear ITSand plastid trnL-F regions, confirmedthese affinities.
