Resumen:
: ¡iian deposits, consisting of both dune and sheet, -: as well as loess, are extensive in South and North . -=rica. Much of the loess present on both continents,. lerived from glacial outwash sources and de-:-:cd during the last glacial maximum (LGM)." .,´e-er, both continents have loess deposits that ´. :.onglaciogenic; e.g., derived from voicaniclastic-::es which are unrelated to glaciation. Neverthe- *. -old, dry, windy conditions during the last glacial" , - - J may have favored loess deposition from a vari- ´- --: sources. Eolian sand is also extensive on both-:-:ients, and some was deposited during the last- -:-:i period as well, particuiarly in South America, -- :-:dcontinent and deserts of North America, and *"... .:. Mid-Holocene eolian sand was deposited in of the midcontinent of North America under,-:.r and drier conditions. However, in both the - : - rtinent of North America and the southwestern´.::s . the most recent and extensive eolian sand units-. :eposited during the late Holocene. Much of the, --iolocene eolian sand in midcontinental North-- :´--á may have been reworked from older sand de-" -=: during the last glacial and mid-Holocene.
