Resumen:
In this study the morphology and pathogenicity of 51 P. tritici-repentis isolates from different regions of Argentina were investigated. Virulence assays were conducted at greenhouse conditions on ten wheat  cultivars. We showed significant differences for 19 of the tested isolates. The genetic variability was investigated using Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats technique (ISSR). The similarity coefficient (Jaccard) was used to construct a dendogram indicating the presence of 36 haplotypes. This study indicate that the population of P. tritici-repentis on wheat in Argentina is heterogeneous, implying that screening wheat germoplasm for resistance for this disease need involved a wide range of isolates of the pathogen.
