Resumen:
The present investigation was undertaken in order to: document the species composition of endophytes of healthy leaves from three cultivars in Buenos Aires province (Argentina), determine their infection frequencies, and its possible significance in biological control of tan spot caused by Drechslera tritici-repentis. All endophytic microorganisms reduced the colony diameter of the pathogen in agar plates bioassays. the spore germination of D. tritici-repentis was significantly reduced in the presence of Fusarium sp. and Bacillus sp. , with rates of inhibition up to 60-90% respectively. The endophytes isolated from asymptomatic leaves of wheat tested in this study were effective in modifiyng the normal morphology and inhibiting the growth of D. tritici-repentis.
