Resumen:
Global climate change is a complex process that cause alterations in severalphysicochemical variables that impact directly or indirectly on organisms and aquaticecosystems around the world. A transplant experiment was carried out to assess theshort-term (hours) combined effects of increases in CO2 concentrations, nutrient, UVRlevels, and vertical mixing on photosynthesis of natural phytoplankton communitiesfrom high-mountain lakes with different previous light-histories.Our results show a net UVR-inhibition in all conditions and transplanted phytoplanktoncommunities, ranging from 30% to 80%. However, under vertical mixing and increasedconditions of CO2, nutrient inputs and UVR, communities with previous high-UVRhistory exhibited higher inhibition of photosynthesis than others. These differentialshort-term response capacity of organisms was mainly related to the different previouslight-history that cells has in their ambient lakes.
