Resumen:
The pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis is a fish species with a huge potential for the aquaculture industry but, nowadays, growth rates and survival in cultured conditions are not successful. In order to establish the nutritional requirements and optimal feed intake of pejerrey, tissue gene expression of somatotropic axis-related hormones (GH, GHRs, IGF-I and IGF-II) as well as myogenin and myostatin as muscle growth markers, and the screening of the proteomic profile of liver and skeletal muscle of fish affected by different nutritional conditions will be examined. To address these issues, different diets varying on protein and lipid content (P/L) will be evaluated. In addition, growth promotion of different feeding rates such as a) ad libitum, b) 1% of body weight (BW) and c) 2% BW will be examined. Expression levels of target genes mentioned above will be quantified by means of real time-PCR in order to estimate the growth promotion effect of the diets and feeding rates. In order to develop those tools, transcripts of muscle growth markers myogenin and myostatin from pejerrey have been partially cloned. These sequences as well as pejerrey IGF-I, GH and GHRs sequences were used to establish quantitative determinations of their expression levels.Odontesthes bonariensis is a fish species with a huge potential for the aquaculture industry but, nowadays, growth rates and survival in cultured conditions are not successful.
