Resumen:
A collection of isolates producing cellulases and hemicellulases bacteria belonging to the genus Bacillus was built. Samples, obtained from industrial locations and guts of wood-eating insects, were processed by successive cultivation allowing de development of enrichment cultures further used to isolate single colonies by plating method. In order to retrieve strains with cellulolytic potential, single colonies exhibiting a significant hydrolysis halo on Congo red agar plates and / or by their ability to degrade partially or totally selected filter paper were isolated. Over 233 pure isolates, Gram positive bacilli were selected due to its ability to secrete hydrolytic enzymes of interest to the culture broth. These strains were further identified as belonging to Bacillus spp through 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.
