Resumen:
A significant variety of phase behaviors are known to occur for complex mixtures, over wideranges of temperture, pressure, composition, and molecular nature of the components of thesystem. Such phase equilibria are mathematically described by using models, with variabledegrees of complexity, for the fluid and solid state. Computations based on models known tohave a poor quantitative performance might be considered fictional. The same nature could beascribed to the results of calculations carried out at conditons well beyond those of theexperimental data used to fit the model parameters. In the present lecture, the value that mightbe ascribed to at first sight fictional phase equilibrium calculations will be discussed. Thepresentation will be conducted with the help of computed diagrams involving ternary fluidphase equilibria and binary fluid-fluid and solid-fluid equilibria.
