Synthesis of long chain branched polypropylene by extrusion

The generation of long chain branches in the molecular structure of linear polypropylene (PP) allows to improve the strain hardening in the molten state making the polymer useful to be used in transformation processes that require this characteristic in the polymer, for example, foaming or thermoforming. In this work, a long chain branched polypropylene is synthesized by a two-stage extrusion process at the pilot plant scale.
