Resumen:
In thiswork,asteady-statemodelofamulti-chamber fluidized-bed granulatorusedforureaproduction is developedandvalidated.Tothisaim,mass,energyandpopulationbalancesaresolvedforallthe fluidized beds.Regardingthepopulationbalanceequation(PBE),purecoatingorthecombined mechanisms ofcoatingandelutriationaretakenintoaccount.BothPBEformulationsareanalytically solvedandanewsolutionmethodologyisproposedtohandleinletsolidstreamsdistributedindifferent size gridsandtominimizethesolutionerrorspropagationexpectedwhenasetofPBEsinserieshastobe solved.Bycomparisonwithexperimentaldata,itisfoundthatthemodelincludingcoatingand elutriation givesabetterrepresentationoftheparticlessizedistributionwithrespecttotheresultsfound when purecoatingisassumed.Besides,theresultsindicatethatthe fines areremovedalmostcompletely in the first andsecondchambers,beingtheamountof fines inthesubsequentchambersnegligible
