Resumen:
The extraction of ethane from natural gas is based on a turboexpansion process at cryogenic temperatures. Significant improvement can be achieved by introducing minor plant structural modifications. The presence of discrete decisions to account for different process configurations leads to a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MlNLP) optimization model. The program has been used to simultaneously determine the optimal configuration and operating conditions for different feed mixtures.
