Resumen:
Thereare four Gondwanan families present in South Americas, restricted to theArgentinian and Chilean Patagonia: Ameletopsidae, Nesameletidae,Oniscigastridae and Coloburiscidae. Ameletopsidae, which includes the genera Chaquihuaand Chiloporter and Nesameletidae, with the single species Metamoniusanceps were recently revised. Neither of the other two monotypic familiesOniscigastridae (with the single species Siphlonella ventilas) norColoburiscidae, were studied recently. Inthis presentation, as part of an ongoing study on the Gondwanan mayflies, weinclude a complete description and figures of the nymph, female and male imagoof Murphyella needhami, the single representative of Coloburiscidae in SouthAmerica. The known distribution of the four families is presented, includingnew records for Argentina and showing that M. needhami presentsthe most restricted distribution, with its latitudinal range extending from itsnorthernmost record at approximately 39°14´19´´ S, 71°11´27 W to itssouthernmost record at 42°55´59´´ S, 72°03´34´W´. We also present thephysicochemical and ecological data of the localities where the specimens werecollected.
