Resumen:
Vaccines againstTritrichomonasfoetushave been shown to reduce the time of infection after natural orexperimental exposure. The object of this study was to assess theprotection against T.foetusinfection conferred by a single vaginal instillation of formaldehydefixed T.foetus cells.Aberdeen Angus virgin heifers were randomly allocated to 3 groups of12 individuals to receive placebo or formaldehyde fixedT.foetuscellsprepared following one of two procedures (formalin or freshlyprepared solution) and six weeks later they were challenged with 106T.foetustrophozoites. Themedian time for clearance among control heifers was 93.75 days whilein animals immunized with formaldehyde fixed T.foetusit was 45 days. A single vaginal dose of cells fixed with freshformaldehyde solution gave a rate of decay of infection per unit oftime of 2.54(CI 95%=1.07;6.01).p { margin-bottom: 2.47mm; direction: ltr; color: rgb(0, 0, 10); line-height: 120%; text-align: left; }p.western { font-family: "Liberation Serif", sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; }p.cjk { font-family: "Noto Sans CJK SC Regular"; font-size: 12pt; }p.ctl { font-family: "FreeSans"; font-size: 12pt; }a:link { }
