Resumen:
Family tales, memory, and memories are the resources Javier Cercas uses to reconstruct the investigation about the possible execution of Rafael Sánchez Mazas, the co-founder of the Falange, and to present it in Soldados de Salamina (Soldiers of Salamis). Based on the contrast between literary and film fictionality, this article analyzes transposition as a way to represent the places of memory nd recover the voice of the eyewitnesses as the main resource to unveil the stories disregarded after the Spanish Civil War. In the first part, we will analyze the relevant theoretical frameworks of memory and the recovery of the story, and in the second part, we will study the intermedial hermeneutics of the transposition to film. Taking into consideration that the historiographic investigation constitutes a turning point in the main character?s life, we will focus on the change of gender in the film adaptation to show how the disclosure of the essential and the revelation of what is secret determine the evolution of the characters in the two versions.
