PURPOSE OF THE TRIP The fieldtrip will examine some ichnological aspects of the Neuquén basin, essentially at classical outcrops located near the city of Zapala, Neuquén province. The emphasis of the trip will be on the ichnology of the Jurassic Lajas Formation, including tide-dominated deltas, tidal channels and ichnofossils at key stratigraphic surfaces. We will also revise the updip and downdip expression of the Lajas Formation at selected localities. On the first day, we will also visit El Chocón city to see beautifully preserved Late Cretaceous dinosaur tracks at the coast of the Ramos Mexía Lake from the Candeleros Formation. The third day will include the return to Santa Rosa, the place of technical sessions of SLIC2013.
