Resumen:
The article focuses on the Florentine Futurist journal Lacerba (1912-1915), and its attitudes and politics regarding sexuality. The writers and editors of Lacerba deployed a strategy of scandal and provocation regarding sexual morality, in order to achieve self-promotion and reinforce their profile as cultural iconoclasts. The article thus focuses on the young collaborator Italo Tavolato. By exploring Tavolato´s articles in defense of homosexuality, the article claims that ideas and representations of gender and sexuality by Futurists contained a defense of sexual diversity. By the same token, the article shows that Futurism rhetoric of war and nationalism was an obstacle to reinforce their progressive or critical side regarding gender and sexuality.
