Resumen:
Bunyamwera virus (BUNV) (Family Bunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus, serogroup Bunyamwera) is considered an emerging pathogen for humans and animals in American continent. The strain CbaAr-426 of BUNV was recovered from mosquitoes Ochlerotatus albifasciatus collected in Cordoba Province (Argentina) where serological studies detected a high seroprevalence in humans and animals for this virus. We carried out molecular detection of Orthobunyavirus from mosquitoes collected in Córdoba Province in mosquitoes. Seventeen mosquito pools of Ochlerotatus albifasciatus,Oc. scapularis and Culex quinquefasciatus resulted positive; four of the positive pools, belonging to Oc. scapularis, were sequenced. All amplicons grouped with BUNV in the Bunyamwera serogroup. These findings highlight the BUNV circulation in Córdoba Province and represent the first report of BUNV infected Oc. scapularis mosquitoes in Argentina.
