Resumen:
We retrospectively sampled 1,845 serum samples collected from free-ranging birds in.northern Argentina to determine the spatio-temporal distribution of West Nile virus (WNV).  WNV-neutralizing antibodies were detected in all 5 locations evaluated, as early as January 2005, presumably deriving from infection in 2004. The rufous hornero (Furnarius ruffus) stood out as a candidate for important amplifying host due to its abundance and high infection rate (12.5% among 96 sampled after 2004).
