Resumen:
This work studied the influence of aeration in biosurfactant from Bacillus atrophaueus production using airlift bioreactor and concomitant recovery through a foam fractionation column. The microbial growth and the emulsification index were analyzed for different aeration rates (0.25 ? 1.00 vvm). The results indicated that in the higher aeration rate was achieved the maximum microbial growth. All biosurfactant was recuperated by foam fractionating column, once that the emulsification activity in the fermented broth is not detected. Since biosurfactants production region emulsification index (EI) > 65.5%, the medium values of EI were constants and without aeration rate influence (EI = 68.89% approximately). However the concentrated volume increased with the increase of aeration rate. Thereby, the optimum aeration rate is 1.00 vvm once the volume in this condition is approximately 8 times higher in comparison to the lowest aerations rate (0.25 vvm). The presented system allow the production and concentration of biosurfactant with high volume and emulsification index.
