Resumen:
ABSTRACTThe present study analyzes and compares a battery of biomarkers in females and males of water bug Belostoma elegans from two streams: one polluted with organic matter (OMS) and the other considered as reference site (RS). Insect collection was carried out during spring-summer season. Glycogen and lactate content were analyzed in insects as well also activities of the enzymes pyruvate-kinase and lactate dehydrogenase. Lipid and fatty acid (FA) composition analysis was performed. The activities of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST) were assayed. Finally lipoperoxidation (LPO), protein oxidation (OP) and the content of reduced glutathione (GSH) were measured.
