Resumen:
In the Mapuche community of Lago Rosario (Patagonia, Argentina), we analyzed the classification process and healing plant utilization in relation to the presence of their organoleptic properties. We found a total richness of 145 ethnospecies that included 72 plant families. Most of species (74%) were recognized as medicine due to taste and/or smell. In contrast, morphology, color of infusion and texture of plants were mentioned in a less proportion. In addition, we provide evidence for a significant association between odor and taste of plants and their species use consensus among informants. These results could be useful for future studies on ethnopharmacology.
