Resumen:
Herein, we compared the common techniques used to study vulture populations using Andean condors (Vultur gryphus) ? a large, widely distributed vulture of conservation concern as a case study. From this comparison, we identified the use of shed feathers as the most robust method for long-term and large-scale moni-toring of avian scavengers across species and political boundaries. Furthermore, we provide an effective, efficient and tested protocol for monitoring Andean condors via shed feathers, and call for its implementation by conservation practitioners at a continental scale
