Resumen:
Interactions of L-cysteine methyl ester hydrochloride (CM), a bioactive cysteinederivative, with dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) were investigated. To gain adeeper insight into analyzing L-cysteine methyl ester HCl interaction with liposomes ofDPPC in anhydrous and hydrated states, we performed experimental studies by FTIR(Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), Raman microscopy and DifferentialScanning Calorimetry (DSC).The results revealed that there is an interaction of CM with the phospholipid headgroups in anhydrous and hydrated states. In Raman results for the anhydrous and gelstates, no significant changes were observed in the area of the hydrophobic region.Biologically active molecules such as CM should be studied in terms of their interactionwith lipid bilayers prior to the development of advanced lipid carrier systems such asliposomes. The results of these studies provide information on membrane integrity andphysicochemical properties that are essential for the rational design of lipidic drugdelivery systems.
