The goal of this poster is to present the Library of the Institute of Limnology "Dr. Raúl Ringuelet" (CONICET-UNLP, Argentina) as a new member of the community of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and information Centers (IAMSLIC) and also to provide to new librarians or information professionals in the aquatic and marine science field with some ideas and resources on how to get started a library or center of documentation characterized by the specialization in a certain type of information. The poster emphasizes certain aspects that were considered keys and marked the path that took the library in this period of reorganization and startup: collaboration and library partnerships, user satisfaction, collection development and use of library technology.
