The macroinvertebrates as indicators of water quality in Pampean rivers. The pamapean biogeographic province occupies a vast territory of south America, embracing the plains of Eastern Argentina from 30 to 39 degrees South, Uruguay and half the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. In relation with biological characteristics of the region, when considering oranisms living in pampasic rivers it has to be noted the almost totally abscence of typical elements of mountains rivers, excepting in some streams having headwaters at Sierras de Tandil and Ventania.  Dominnance of detritivores is clear, crumbling along main arms of the largest rivers with lowest vegetation abundance increases , learning to the development of the typical fauna at the regional level for  this kind of rivers. Based on this fauna the IMRP index has been attempted in several rives affected to a different extent  by urban and insustrial perturbations and compared with pritine rivers tf the region.
