SUMMARY Energetic metabolism of the fresh water shrimp Palaemonetes argentinus Nobili (Decapoda Natantia Caridea Palaemonidae) of the Chascomus pond. The energetic metabolism of the fresh water shrimp of the Chascomiis Pond was studied on the basis of oxygen consumption. Some techniques for collecting are commented as well as the laboratory acclimatation and feeding. Two measurement techniques were applied: a close circuit galvanic microrespirometer for the larger individuals, and a Cartesian diver microrespirometer whose characteristics are described. This expression may be used at known average water temperature and weight class composition of the population to estimate the energetic dispend of the population.
