Resumen:
Acute lethal effects on the coelenterate Hydra attenuata of active ingredients and formulations of the insecticides chlorpyrifos and cypermethrin and the herbicide glyphosate were assessed. The relative toxicity of the three pesticides on this test organism was chlorpyrifos > cypermethrin > glyphosate. Tested active ingredients or formulations of the insecticides did not significantly differ between them. The tested formulation of glyphosate exhibited higher toxicity at low concentrations of the herbicide (LC1-10) when compared to the active ingredient, reversing this behavior at higher concentrations (LC50-90). The comparison of the sensitivity of H. attenuata with existent toxicity data for other aquatic organisms indicates that this coelenterate species is poorly sensitive to the insecticides and highly sensitive to the herbicide.
