 ABSTRACT Knowledge about ichthyofaunal spatial distribution and composition of thelotic environment pampean plain is scarce. The purpose of this paper is to isto characterize fish community living in the Rodríguez Stream, located in theurban northeastern area of the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina.limnological data was collected and analyzed along the stream. Ichthyologicalsamples were taken using different methods to determine the quali-quantitativecomposition of the fish and their changes tendencies to change in relation torelated to some environmental variables. The low oxygen concentration in themiddle course, caused by the highest anthropic pressure, was the key factorwhich was responsible for the largest changes in the composition and speciesabundance of the fauna. This contribution, besides considering biologicalaspects of the ichthyofauna of this stream for the first time, provides a diagnosishow this is affected by the growing urban impact within the metropolitan areaof Buenos Aires.
