The ATLAS three-tier trigger system faces the challenge to reduce the incomingrate of 40 MHz to $sim$ 200 Hz. It consists of hardware based Level-1, and asoftware based High-Level Trigger (HLT). In this talk an overview of the photon triggers will be given. Theperformance of theses triggers in terms of selection efficiency andbackground rejection has been estimated using Monte Carlo simulations.Examples will be shown for various important physics channels with photonsin the final state.
