Resumen:
Magnetic hyperthermia therapy appears as a promisingtechnique for low invasive elimination of tumors, or as a wayto improve the efficiency of chemo or radio therapy [1]. Magnetiteis one of the best candidates to be used in effectivetreatments, even though presents an undesirable high orderingtemperature (TN). Here we present a detailed study ofzinc-doped magnetite in a search for better materials for hyperthermiaapplications. Mean sizes lower than 40 nm andcompositions were envisaged to produce high specific losspower (SLP). To this end, Zn concentration was varied to optimizethe saturation magnetization and lower the order temperature. To achieve a complete knowledge of their structural, microstructural and magnetic properties, an exhaustivecharacterization of the samples was performed with severaltechniques like XRD, Mössbauer Effect Spectroscopy (MES),magnetometry and XAS.
