Resumen:
Summary: The author’s work with the indigenous Guaraní peoples of Misiones, Argentina combined statistical methods used in botany with traditional knowledge to come up with a model for restoration of degraded forests of Guaraní villages. Interviews with community members were used to determine the frequency of use of certain plants and how these plants could fit into restoration objectives. According to the Guaraní, a good forest must have many useful and easily obtainable species.
