Resumen:
While an average of 30 pairs of Brown Skua (Stercorarius antarcticus lonnbergi) and 50 pairs of South Polar Skua (S. maccormicki) were reported to breed in Potter Peninsula, King George Island, Antarctica during mid-1990s to mid-2000s, in the last three austral summers only 2-3 pairs of Brown Skuas fledged chicks and no pairs of South Polar Skuas bred. Skua predation and a reduction in food resources may originate the reduction in breeding attempts and breeding success. This contribution intends to draw attention to the state these species, listed as ?Least Concerning? because no evidence of declines in their populations was previously known.
