Resumen:
The genus Cnemalobus Guérin-Ménéville can be easily recognize from others southern South American carabids by the high number of umbilicate setae. Recent expedition reveal the existence of a new species that have more than 170 fixed setae in the margin of pronotum and between 180?240 in the umbilical elytral series, characteristics that would allow us to suppose that it is perhaps the species of Carabidae of South America with more umbilicate setae. In addition, the new species presents a second medial protibial tooth unique in the genus. In this contribution, we describe the new species of Cnemalobus, we locate it into a key to the species of this genus, analyze its phylogenetic relationships and discuss if these characters are related with the habitat condition.
