Resumen:
The genus Physalaemus is represented by 38 recognized species, of which 33 species are summarized in Frost (1985) and the remaining five species are P. bokermanni Cardoso and Haddad, 1985, P deimaticus Sazima and Caramaschi, 1986, P. crombiei Heyer and Wolf, 1989, P rupestris Caramaschi, Carcerelli and Feio, 1991, and P cuqui Lobo, 1993. Until now only twelve larvae out of the 38 species have been described. Lynch (1970) defined four groups within this genus. The cuvieri group is the richest, reaching 19 species. From this group six larvae have been described (Langone, 1989; Rossa-Feres and Jim, 1993).
