Canola is aworldwide important crop. Particularly in our country, it is the only crop ableto provide oil during winter/spring season. Several diseases are capable tocause important economic loss, among these, Phoma leaf spot and Phoma stemcanker are the most important. In both cases, the causal agent is a complex oftwo closely related fungal species, Leptosphaeriamaculans and L. biglobosa. ThisPD note reports for the first time the isolation and characterization of Leptosphaeria biglobosa ´brassicae´ aspathogen in Brassica napus (Canola)in Argentina. We consider thatthis work contributes to increase current knowledge of the Phoma disease managein Canola crop in Argentina.
