Resumen:
REPORT SUMMARY:   Detailed sedimentological and complementary paleontological information of the Upper Cretaceous deposits in a small area west of Cape Foster is being studied in the frame of the geological evolution of the James Ross Basin. As Upper Cretaceous exposures are very scarce in the southern margin of James Ross Island this small area is critical for the control of the geological and structural interpretation of the basin. Preliminary results in this area allow for the correlation of these deposits with the. western and eastern marine successions of James Ross Island, better known in Brandy Bay-Santa Marta Cove to the NW and in Rabot Point-Hamilton Point to the SE. In this regards, the facies analysis of two sedimentary logs, the paleontological analysis of the bivalve and ammonite faunas, and the observations on the structure of the Cape Foster area will add important information on the geological and structural evolution of the Basin.
