“Subnational entities, provinces and regions within the context of Argentina- Chile bilateral relations” (The provincial in the international)

This article focuses on the increasing international activity of sub-national governments, as a result of international interdependence, decentralization and demands for democratization within Foreign Policy. It also highlights the new scenario where the external-internal linkages take place. Within this context, it makes an account of developments in specific areas calling for the attention to different negotiations between Argentine Federal Government and provinces related to “infrastructure” investments in bording regions, environment matters and natural resources profit, where provinces push for more participation at the decision making process. It remarks both  the progress and contributions of the “Border Committees” (Argentina-Chile) and the contribution made by provinces to develop crossing borders and different types of infrastructure in order to deepen integration with their neighbors
