Resumen:
There are four Gondwanan families present in South Americas, restricted to the Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia: Ameletopsidae, Nesameletidae, Oniscigastridae and Coloburiscidae. Ameletopsidae, which includes the genera Chaquihua and Chiloporter and Nesameletidae, with the single species Metamonius anceps were recently revised. Neither of the other two monotypic families Oniscigastridae (with the single species Siphlonella ventilas) nor Coloburiscidae, were studied recently. In this presentation, as part of an ongoing study on the Gondwanan mayflies, we include a complete description and figures of the nymph, female and male imago of Murphyella needhami, the single representative of Coloburiscidae in South America. The known distribution of the four families is presented, including new records for Argentina and showing that M. needhami presents the most restricted distribution, with its latitudinal range extending from its northernmost record at approximately 39°14´19´´ S, 71°11´27 W to its southernmost record at 42°55´59´´ S, 72°03´34´W´. We also present the physicochemical and ecological data of the localities where the specimens were collected.
