Resumen:
Carbon doping is studied in MgB2 pellets during one-step synthesis by solidstatereaction, employing both undoped and carbon-doped boron with andwithout the addition of nano-SiC. The phase formation during the synthesis as afunction of time was followed using powder X-ray diffraction and Rietveldrefinement. The superconducting properties were characterized with amagnetometer to investigate doping-induced changes. Mg(B1–xCx)2 is obtainedwith nano-precipitates and different compositions depending on the synthesistemperature. It is found that the addition of nano-SiC prevents the phaseformation at low temperature (700C). Nevertheless, the best superconductingproperties are obtained for the sample treated at 900C using simultaneously Cand SiC, with a critical current density of 105 A cm2 at 3 Tand 20 K, named the900-20-C-nanoSiC sample.1.
