Effect of the specific secretions of pars tuberalis on the hormone of pars distalis

Different types of secretory cells and a system of intercellular channels in the Pars Tuberalis (PT) have been described. It suggest a connection with the subarachnoid space and the perivascular space of the portal capillaries, respectively. In order to study about the endocrine function of the PT, in the present work we investigate the effect of the secretions of primary cultures of bovine PT cells on the releasing of prolactin (PRL) from Pars Distalis (PD) cells. The collected liquid from the culture of PT cells was applied on DEAE column.The different protein fractions obtained from DEAE and the liquid collected from the culture of PT cells were used to stimulate PD cells for two ways: superfusion and incubation experiments. The present results shown that the stimulation of PD cells induce the releasing of PRL or the inhibition of their secretion depending of the protein concentration used for stimulating.
