Resumen:
A finite element formulation to deal with three dimensional contact using a mortar algorithm combined with a mixed penalty-duality formulation from an augmented Lagrangian approach is proposed. The use of a Lagrangian avoids the use of arbitrary penalty factors defined by the user. The contact approach based on the mortar method does not cause jumps in the contact forces and it can be used in arbitrarily curved 3D mesh configuration. In this work, the projection surface used for integrating the equations is selected through a local Cartesian basis defined in each contact element. In this way, some difficulties in the contact algorithm implementation as well as in the linearization of the equations are avoided. The proposed examples show that the algorithm passes the patch tests exactly.
