Resumen:
Dipsacus fullonum L. (Common teasel) is an invasive species in Argentine grasslands. The aim of this study was to determine the proper dose using Glyphosate, 2,4-D and their mixtures for teasel control. Treatments consisted in individual application of glyphosate and 2,4-D at the rate of 1215 g ae.ha-1 (2 L ha-1) and 875 g ae. ha-1 (1,75 L ha-1), respectively. the cited dose (X) was utilized in seven treatment (1/32 X, 1/16 X, 1/8 X, 1/4 X, 1/2X, X and 2X), together with five different combinations. Herbicides were applied on three growth stages: early vegetative, rosette and pre-flowering. Five plots, containing three plants each one, were arranged in a completely randomized design. Mean of plant dry weight of each pot was determined 30 days after herbicides application. Data were subjected to ANOVA and LSD test (p lower than 0.05). Maximum control was achieved using glyphosate at 2X in early vegetative state. The herbicide 2,4-D did not reflect effective control, only a significant growth decrease of 55% in the early vegetative stage using 1,75 L ha-1. No synergistic effects related with use of herbicides mixtures were recorded; besides, glyphosate sprayed alone was more effective than combination with 2,4-D. When adopting chemical control, glyphosate can be a good option taking into consideration the weed growth stage in order to obtain the best results.
