Nowadays, polyethylene multilayer bags (silo-bags) are used for hermetic and active storage of grains. This type of agroplastic packaging allows the generation of a modified or controlled atmosphere, in which grains and other biotic components consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide. The modification of the interstitial atmosphere contributes to product conservation. In addition, the increase of the humidity in the interstitial ambient space must be avoided, thus water vapor permeability of this type of packaging becomes an important feature. In this sense, the objective of the work is to study comparatively the gas barrier properties (water vapor and oxygen) of commercial flexible packaging for grain storage.
