Resumen:
The objective of the present research consist on studying the type  of structure (columnar, equiaxial or with the columnar to equiaxed  transition, CET) using solidification and electrochemical  parameters in Zn-Al alloys with different concentrations (Zn-2%Al, Zn-4wt%Al, Zn-16wt%Al and Zn-27wt%Al, weight percent).  In order to obtain columnar, equiaxial and the CET structures, the alloys were directionally solidified upwards in an experimental set up with a set of thermocouples in the samples which permit to determine the time dependent profiles during growth. From these profiles and the location of thermocouples it was possible to calculate the cooling rates, growth velocities and the temperature gradients along the samples. The electrochemical studies in the samples were realized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization curves.
