Resumen:
The clinical presentation of multiple sclerosis is accompanied by many alterations in body sensing, including pain, proprioception, temperature, taste, and olfactory perception. In line with a recent model of fatigue, these alterations suggest a possible deficit in interoceptive processing, that is, the capacity to perceive and monitor autonomic body signals. To examine this possibility, we conducted the first systematic, multidimensional assessment of interoception in multiple sclerosis, integrating behavioral, electrophysiological, and neuroimaging evidence.
