Resumen:
The administration of adenosine receptor agonist CPA before the convulsant MP produces a delay in the appearance of seizure. [3H]–NECA binding to striatum adenosine A2 receptors increased after CPA, and CPA 30 minutes before MP were injected (35%, 45%, respectively). MP produce an increase of 24% and 15% in  [3H]–NECA binding in seizure and postseizure period, respectively. [3H]–MK801 binding increased after CPA, CPA 30 minutes before MP, MP (seizure stage) and MP (postseizure stage) were administered. A2 adenosine receptor might be involved in an anticonvulsant mechanism, and the CPA administration effect should be due to a neurotoxic action, while the convulsant drug MP produces an overstimulation of NMDA receptors.
